One of the key tenets of Beta Theta Pi is our commitment to community. Not only do we need air, food, water, clothing and shelter; we also need companionship and mental stimulation. At Beta, our responsibility to the community extends beyond philanthropy (while still important), calling for Betas to give our time and talents to our Johns Hopkins community.

Wyman Park Dell: Wyman Park Dell is a 16-acre public park that is a landmark in Baltimore City. Located just south of Johns Hopkins University and The Baltimore Museum of Art, you can find Betas there on every clean-up day, tending to the park and helping maintain the landscaping to keep it looking nice for everyone.

Fall Clean-Up Dates:

Freshman Day of Service: During orientation, Beta Theta Pi helps the Johns Hopkins Center for Social Concern organize the Freshman Day of Service, bringing new students out into Baltimore to help them learn about and help the city where we go to school. Being a Johns Hopkins student means more than just burying your head in your books. Freshman should take this opportunity to learn about and help your new Baltimore community. A free lunch is provided, and participants should be sure to remember to dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes as you might be getting a little dirty.

Dining Dollar Donate-a-Thon: At the end of the year, Beta organizes a campus food drive. We encourage anyone with remaining Dining Dollars to come the Charles Street Market and use the points, which would otherwise expire, to help those in need. Each year, this event raises well over $1,000 of food and provides the Maryland Food Bank with much needed supplies.

Boy Scouts of America: Twice a year, we make our way to a local Boy Scout camp and volunteer our time, assisting wherever necessary. Whether helping maintain the facilities or tearing down old structures, we always lend a helping hand wherever we can.
